New Executive Officer for Alliance Cancer Control Program

The Alliance Cancer Control Program (CCP) has selected Selina Chow, MD, to serve as its new Executive Officer, replacing Paul Reiter, PhD, MPH, whose term ended on June 30 after serving three years. Dr. Chow is a Clinical Associate of Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Section of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, at the University of Chicago. In her new role, she will actively serve on CCP committees, present CCP concepts during Alliance Scientific Concept Review Committee (SCRC) operational reviews, review proposals submitted for the CCP Pilot Project and Junior Faculty Awards, participate in protocol development, assist with logistical activities of protocol development (e.g., assessing study budget needs, study feasibility, and assist in the coordination of industry interactions).  Dr. Chow will also review serious adverse events (SAEs) and Adverse Event Expedited Reporting System (AdEERS) reports and coordinate study-specific emergency actions along with other assigned tasks.


New Chair for Alliance Data and Safety Monitoring Board

The Alliance Data and Safety Monitoring Board has a new chair - Jeffrey J. Kirshner, MD. Dr. Kirshner replaces Paul Brown, MD, who has served in that capacity since 2013.  Effective July 1, Dr. Kirshner began his new role, providing leadership of the committee responsible for monitoring all CTEP-sponsored phase III and randomized phase II trials, and select National Cancer Institute Division of Cancer Prevention (NCI DCP) sponsored trials. He is Principal Investigator for the Alliance at Hematology Oncology Associates of Central New York.
